Advocate Review of Time for A Change, 11 June 2008 Posted on Jun 19 2008
This five song EP has some interesting things going on, in a Randy Newman or Warren Zevon kind of way. The opener, "Time for a Change" is a straight-up hooky pop song with Hammond organ, a twangy solo and no shortage of high harmonies. Track two, "5761," is more Dylanesque in its phrasing and harmonica work. Then Mednick dives into piano land, where the Randy Newman comparison becomes more apparent. There are some cool melodic runs and creative changes, though I sometimes felt like the setups were better than the payoffs.
