A new song by New Haven Singer-Songwriter Steve Mednick has been included on a European compilation CD called “I Like It Better Here – More Music From Home”. The song “Why? Why? Why?”, was selected by the Swedish promotional firm because its addresses immigration themes and a nomadic concept of what constitutes a home.   In describing the song Mednick says: “…we are all immigrants, coming and going from place-to-place, sometimes welcome, most of the time fighting for our place at the table. Home is where we lay our heads, it may be a tenement in the City, a tent in the field or a cabin in the woods. It is the place where we dream, feed our spirits and imagine the future”.

The CD features a wide variety of performers; including

  • Jack Tempchin (writer of a number of songs by the Eagles, including “Peaceful Easy Feeling”, "Already Gone"," "The Girl From Yesterday," "Somebody," and "It's Your World Now" as well as songs for Glenn Frey, Johnny Rivers, Emmylou Harris and George Jones);

  • Kimmie Rhodes (anAustin- Based Singer/Songwriter whose songs have been recorded by Willie Nelson, Wynonna Judd, Trisha Yearwood, Amy Grant, CeCe Winans
    Joe Ely, Waylon Jennings, Peter Frampton, Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris);

  • Anthony Crawford, a Nashville-based Singer/Songwriter who has written songs for Steve Winwood (Final Hour, Walking On), Pegi Young, Kenny Rogers and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and has toured with Neil Young (and the Shocking Pinks, the International Harvestors, his Electric Band and the Neverending tour), Steve Winwood, Dwight Yoakam, the Pegi Young Band and Nicolette Larson).
