What Remains - Questions

QUESTIONS

WHERE ARE YOU JACOB, I HAVEN’T HEARD YOUR VOICE?
YOU’VE DROPPED OUT OF OUR LIVES FOR FAR TOO LONG

DO YOU REMEMBER, THE WORDS YOUR FATHER SANG?
DON’T CONFUSE THE CAUSE WITH FAIRY TALES

THEY ALWAYS TOLD ME, I SHOULD GET OUT OF THE WAY
I IGNORED THEIR WORDS AND TOOK MY STAND THERE ANYWAY
YOU KNOW ALL MY SECRETS WHAT I SAY IS NOT UNKNOWN
YOU SAY YOU WANT THE TRUTH BUT TAKE TO GLOSSLY WORDS

WHERE IS CHRISTINA…THE GIRL WHO HID BEHIND THE DOOR?
I WALKED YOUR STREET TO FIND YOU MANY YEARS AGO

DO YOU REMEMBER…THE BOY WHO CALLED YOUR PHONE?
PLEASE FORGIVE MY SILENT TÊTE-À-TÊTES

THEY ALWAYS TOLD ME, I SHOULD LISTEN TO THE WORDS I CONFUSED MYSELF AND MISAPPLIED THE REMEDIES
YOU KNOW ALL MY SECRETS WHAT I SAY IS NOT UNKNOWN
YOU ASK FOR SOBER VERSE BUT PREFER THE COMEDY

WHERE DID THE LOVELY RITA, WHERE DID SHE GO ON TO?
THERE WAS A SONG ABOUT YOU, SOME FORTY YEARS OR SO

ARE YOU RETIRED OR LIVING AT THE SHORE?
I HAVE WONDERED ABOUT YOUR CHOICES, ANY SWEET REGRETS ?

THEY ALWAYS TOLD ME, NOT TO ENGAGE FOOLISH THOUGHT
I PAID LITTLE HEED AND JUMPED INTO THE ARGUMENT
YOU KNOW ALL MY SECRETS WHAT I SAY IS NOT UNKNOWN
THEY SAY THAT FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE HE ONLY KEY

Eric Danton of the Hartford Courant on "What Remains" 10 August 2010

It's entirely possible that Steven Mednick is the most prolific musician on the local scene.  A lawyer by day, the New Haven singer and songwriter cranks out songs by night -- enough for seven releases since 2008, including his latest, "What Remains" (Cottage Sound Recordings) He has a lot to say, clearly, and he communicates in '60s folk-rock style, building songs around acoustic guitar and his voice, with adornment from electric guitars, keyboards and the occasional string arrangement and harmonica.
